Scientific Leadership

David Barnes, Ph.D.

Dave Barnes is a founder, chief executive officer, and chief scientific officer of Velesco Pharmaceutical Services. Dave worked for Pfizer for 19 years in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Division of Research & Development. He is an accomplished scientist with broad expertise in drug formulation, drug product development, GMP manufacturing, clinical supply provision and facility management. He has extensive experience in managing complex scientific and technical drug development projects, many of them outsourced to contract research organizations (CRO).

With his broad depth of experience in drug formulation ranging from early phase non-clinical drug products through the development and transfer of commercial dosage forms into pharmaceutical manufacturing production facilities, Dave is recognized as a technical expert in his field, having written several papers and given many technical presentations at international conferences and symposiums. He ensures that he is involved in the scientific oversight of the projects undertaken by Velesco.

Dave has a Pharmacy degree and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from The School of Pharmacy, University of London.
